The nose is poised and elegant, with inviting aromas of orchard fruits, toasted marshmallows, nougat and praline. The palate is energetic and laser-like in focus, leading to a crunchy, salivating finish that adds weightlessly rich depth and additional saline character with extended aeration.
Vines planted in 2006 at the Rancho Ontiveros Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley. The grapes were picked for natural acidity, whole bunch pressed and then fermented with native yeast in neutral french oak barrels. The wine aged on lees for 19 months before its first racking to bottle, without fining or filtration, and with minimal sulfur used.
